Odette

Odette has a reputation of having the best cream puff in Paris and since I LOVE cream puffs, I could not pass up the chance to check it out.

As it was an afternoon early in the week, the café was quiet.

Really yummy selection of cream puffs!

I really wanted to try all but contented myself with green tea, caramel and forest fruits.

Will definitely bring my friends to try it out soon! x

The Broken Arm

Another great new café in the Haut-Marais area of Paris that I've had the pleasure of visiting twice.

Like Singapore, Paris is enjoying a wave of artisan cafés opening up everywhere and I want to go to all of them!

Their blueberry cheesecake is delicious with coffee!

Managed to sneak in a good coffee at Telescope cafe...
One of the best coffees ever in the city of lights.
So happy that proper cafes are finally opening in Paris!

And for a rainy Sunday, nothing beats the cheesecake in the pub near our place...
Creamy and soft, it hits the right spot every single time.

Seeing green

A new florist opened near my place and it's a real atelier... a beautiful mess of green.

My favorite desserts in Paris include the Religueuse, an eclair or a St Honoré as shown!

french delights

Fresh roses.. white ones are always my favorite..

Tea at Ladurée is a must whenever I'm in Paris... not so much for their macarons as I'm not a big fan, but the rose religieuse which is amazing.

An old mirror.

Little surprise gifts from my friends

Repettos are so comfortable and the service is always excellent.
Love this satin version which was sold out everywhere but thanks to a special angel I managed to find it.

Can never say no to a creamy camembert with fresh bread and Comté cheese.

My weekend was spent with my friend in Paris, showing her the sights & my favorite places...

We shopped up a storm & ate non-stop as she wanted to try traditional french food. And of course basking in the June sunlight that sends all Parisians in a wonderful mood.

Tucking into confit de canard (confit of duck), which is cooked in its own fat... delicious! One of my favorite French dishes :)

Enjoy the rest of Sunday xx

Kickin back

On Thursdays, when most of Paris' departmental stores close late, I like to go to Déli-cieux on the top floor of the Printemps store... it's a laid-back self-service café with great music & an unbeatable view of Paris.

Yesterday however, we chose to kick back & sit on the grass instead :) We talked, laughed, listened to music & ate cookies & chocolate. What a beautiful day xx

Monday brunch

Today I discovered Eggs & Co, a 5-year-old cheerful restaurant in Saint Germain-des-Près which serves all-day brunch everyday.

It's difficult to find a good brunch place in Paris during the week... especially somewhere authentic & not too touristy.

Their décor is too cute... hens in a barn just behind me :)

The food is the star of this eatery... Eggs in any form you can imagine - poached, scrambled, omelettes, Benedicte, Norwegian, etc; I took the Eggs Benedict brunch menu which comes with fresh orange juice, coffee & oven roasted potatoes with salad.

And when u think u can't eat anymore, the brunch finishes with a pancake & a fruit salad.

One of the best brunches i ever had in Paris.. And their coffee is delicious. I can't wait to go back again!

time out

When I feel I need to take a step back..

Away from prying eyes & ears...

away from the cares of the world.

Just me, a cup of coffee & a book.

I'm reading Life of Pi for the third time, really love it.

Le café du Petit Palais

Paris' best kept secret...

The cafe in the Petit Palais museum, overlooking its garden...

With the cherry blossoms in full bloom against the gilded opulence... it was East meets West at its best.

We spent the whole afternoon over coffees & cakes, talking about life & taking in the beauty around this museum which is often overlooked compared to the Grand Palais. Few people know that its permanent collections are free & they have Monet & Gauguin paintings too.
Next week's lunch date? At the MINI Palais :)
Sunset over the Seine. Always beautiful x

sunset

My friend Timmy is going back to Chicago... so sad to see him leave :'( We had fallafels in the Marais district... the best fallafel in Paris.. good food doesn't have to be expensive!

We thought we should end his stay with one of the best views in Paris...

The sunset was breathtaking, bursting with the last light... as though the sun changed his mind a thousand times before sliding into the horizon.
We stayed till the tower lit up, the air became chilly, my nose turned red & Paris transformed from unfeeling grey to a twinkling warm hue...

But still we stayed on, each willing his mind to remember this moment when Paris was at her prettiest. xx

Bateaux Mouches

On my mum's last night in Paris, F planned a dinner cruise down the Seine for the 3 of us. It was beautiful.

In between courses, we went up to the deck.. it was freezing cold but felt so great to have the icy wind in your face as you see the Eiffel Tower from another perspective & right after that, we went underneath the bridge.. so close you could reach up & touch it.

Everyone had a table by the window so we could see Paris in all its lit-up glory while enjoying dinner.

The map of the river cruise & all the monuments we could see during the 2.5 hour ride.

The interior of the boat.

My codfish main.

Thank you Bateaux Mouches... for the excellent welcome & faultless service... I almost forgot we were in Paris ;)
