Nights & days...

.: Nights & days:.

Sunshiny day @ union square.

Shopping @ Macy's.. San francisco is a great place for stocking up on yr Junk food tees and Benefit cosmetics.. and Marc jacobs/kate spade is cheaper by a fair bit too. Imagine the hole in my pocket!

restless in the night. I love this pic.

We land in Hk and my mood changes instantly. I crave for pork chop rice, star ferry rides & cheap bargains.

Jerome & i love to hang out at Stanley, plus the 'treacherous' bus ride there is half the fun. We found a rocky spot where we could catch up without the crowd & enjoy the sea breeze. He teaches me so many simple things about life and takes care of me just like a big brother. He's a true gem.

An ice cream to cheer me up!

Dear jolene... my companion in food & shoppin during this long trip... I swear she is a dead ringer for Elva Hsiao!!!We check out new cha chan tengs & gorge ourselves silly on mango desserts. I bring her to Lucky dessert to try more mango.

We have mango sago in milk & mango pancakes with cream... after this trip i can't stomach any more mango for the next few mths.

We traverse CWB and MK to find the perfect purse. She was lookin for the same porter boy purse that i have! We are amazed at the sheer variety of 2nd hand luxury products they have... are HK girls really that materialistic?? I don't really think so though.

Having said that, the brazen cheapo shopaholics in us get matching fake Anya hindmarch bags for only 10SGD. Why queue in the rain or kill yself cos u're not on the despairingly long waiting list? Its just a canvas bag that happens to be very cheap and will probably not replace any plastic bags or leave a lasting environmental msg anyway.

Oh and we also bought SoftBank parallel imports, complete with japanese graphics & menus heh.

In short, just come to TST & all yr desires shall be fulfilled.

Its old and slow and sometimes u see cockroaches but i feel so calm & relaxed each time i take the star ferry.

The view itself is reason enough to take it  As jerome always tells me, the boat will not take u any faster in such a fast-paced city. So during that short ride, all the time in the world belongs to me.

why i love HK

Why i love HK.

Cha chan tengs!!!!!! I think of them the minute I open my eyes in the morning. They always serve great noodles/pork chops/duck dishes & thomas just introduced me to Tsui wah at causeway bay.. will definitely be goin back there.

The Mid-levels escalators. I am constantly amazed at this innovation... imagine taking escalator after escalator instead of climbing up or taking the bus... it's surreal, it's convenient, u can check out Soho along the way.. it's really something out of this world for me.

After taking 6 escalators, u think u must be high enough but no, they just keep going up. I always look at these never-ending apartments in wonder... nowhere in the world have i seen such a high concentration of high-rise skinny flats.

The view may be excellent from jerome's place.. 28th floor of the above building but the air doesnt smell any fresher and he admits to a desire to roll down the hill every morning because it simply takes too much time to go down and up.

Each time i go to HK, I will take a pic of the neon signboards cos i love love love them. Though they may be right next to old peeling buildings, they are so vibrant and colorful that they make every street look interesting.

Lovely restaurants in Soho... very cosmopolitan crowd, excellent authentic cuisine.. we had moroccan fare in Le Kasbah.. yummy.

Catching up/ doing silly things/ exploring new places & revisiting favorite haunts with old friends!

an old friend in HK

The weekend in HK was super super super. I met up with Jerome, my dear old friend. even though we always email or sms, we havent seen each other for ages! The last time i was in hk, he was back in france, then he came to singapore to visit and i was in sydney. So this time was really a sweet reunion for us. He kept the weekend free & me, i gave up shopping this time!

First up, he attempts to cook for me and also show me his new plc... the last time i came, he was still stayin at causeway bay but now has moved to an apartment with a great view.. check it out!

And I go to watch him at his rugby match.. his emails are always peppered with rugby matches... first time i see him play!

But poor Thomas dislocates his finger... for once we cant think of anything reassuring to say cos it really looks pretty bad. Hes hustled off to the hospital for an operation.

Instead of accompanyin him, we decide to make the most of our time & head to Soho instead haha. I love the area.. so laidback & little streets crammed with boutiques & bars... i definitely prefer it to LKF!

Dinner at a nice Italian restaurant... & lots of catching up to do.. now that he's shaved his head, he's practically a gay magnet! Everywhere we go, guys swivel to look at him hee.

But he's still one of the nicest & sweetest guys i know. I just found this old pic of us circa 2003! We were on the ferry to Lantau Island & he thinks it's funny to stick his finger in my ear.

It really makes me laugh to compare us then & now. How we have changed!

The next day is petanque day. We head to his friend's plc at Lamma Island for a game of petanque.. i don't agree that it's a game played only by old french men... i love it!

Lamma island is home to many HKers who want to escape from the urban jungle. Here, u have lotsa nature & time passes so slowly. But at 40mins away by ferry, i think it's a tad far.

It's serious business as distances between balls & the cochonette are measured with precision & lengthy discussions take place.

He gives me a few quick lessons and i score a couple of beautiful shots. Of course he's quick to say i've got a good teacher but i'm inclined to think i'm maybe perhaps a little gifted?:D

Dusk falls as we continue to play... amidst the evening light, we reminisce on how our friendship has come a long long way. Our lives have changed so much over the years but he's still the good ol' jerome i know... always there for me when i need him, always taking care of his friends. That, to me, is the mark of true friendship :)

Disneyland HK

Disney really is, magic.

Photos with yr fave characters... we do the Mickey Minnie, Pooh, Buzz Lightyear, Chip&Dale, etc.

The Cinderella carousel is fun by day... & magical by night.. Seeing all the happy faces twirling around u really makes yr day

I love love love the Pooh train ride so much that i make gil go with me again... it's simply like being in wonderland! Definitely my personal favourite.

The Golden Mickeys show. Sets are so well-done & professional, cast members so lithe & always smiling... the Disney people really take their business very seriously.

This is my favourite photo cos we look so happy like 2 little kids!

View of Adventureland from tarzan's treehouse...

We wait for the fireworks while admiring Sleeping beauty's castle... it's really beautiful.

i love the little shops along Main street... can't bear to leave!

Look at how pretty the streets are... washed aglow with fairy lights & disney's magic..

The stunning fireworks display from the castle... held us spellbound for a while.. And when it ended, we were reminded of reality & modern day hk... Disneyland is so magical, i finally understand why it still continues to attract visitors even after so many years. I'm well & truly in love!
