Heidelberg

a weekend in Frankfurt..

cherries in abundance everywhere.. one of my fave fruits anytime :)

People enjoying the sunshine & cool air..

i spend Sunday in Heidelberg which is about an hour away from frankfurt by train. As usual, none of my colleagues are interested to come along... which is fine by me cos i enjoy the solitude & making my own discoveries.

The pretty town of heidelberg, with its famous castle nestled amongst the mountains..

The castle ruins bathed in soft morning light

Serene castle grounds..

The magnificent gardens and the rock fountain of father Rhine shimmering in the sun

Descending from the castle brings u to the Corn market where the statue of Madonna stands..

it is also where i enjoy a lunch of bratwurst spatzle and apfelwein...

A unique antiques shop where the owner displays his wares on the roof of his car :)

Sitting along the Neckar river. It was a great day out, made especially lovely by the Germans i met who went out of their way to help me, and were so eager to tell me more about their town.. i would have been lost if not for them :)

What greeted me as i walked back to the hotel... these ducks were so cute and you could pat them and they would just sit there, nestling contentedly against yr hand.

Frankfurt

I'm back from frankfurt.. hope the past week was great for ya. The weather dipped to a shivering 3 degrees but i loved it. It's a beautiful old city where the people are still very proud of their architecture and heritage. i had a much betta time than i'd expected.

A pic from my hotel room... a quiet sunrise over frankfurt.

The first thing i eat? Of course a juicy bratwurst sausage

The Altstadt or Old Town... a must-go. I thought i'd walked out of modern Germany into medieval europe. The 6 houses along the East Row on the left form the crown jewel of the old town.

A walk along the river...

Delicious afternoon tea in a cafe located 8 storeys above a mall.

There are lots of good food to be found in frankfurt... besides sausages & lovely chocolates, you can find a good variety of Italian restos.. i love the seafood spaghetti & spinach from this particular joint... heaven!

And not to mention the mouthwatering homemade yoghurt from the bakery near our hotel... i ate 2 pots straight!

The shopping is also fantastic... and i was given excellent service in vuitton... bought myself a little somethin to start off my holidays!

The next day i took the chance to walk around the city again... this time visiting the Alte Oper, Opera house. I find alot of joy in just having a coffee & soaking in the sights & sounds of a city... with nothing on yr agenda.. no stress no worries... just being a sponge!

The walk back to the hotel... chilly but enjoyable.

Have a great week ahead... i gotta rest. Ciao~!
